Hi, Just a quick note to say that you are going to be greatly missed at the school after so many years committed service. You really were an asset to the school and I hope you have lots of good memories, I am sure the children that you taught have many happy stories to tell. We hope you will of course keep in touch and continue to send us lots of photos of Flo as you have both been part of School Life for so long. I do hope you are enjoying the lovely weather we are having at the moment and you can relax in your next seat.

Hi everybody, | |
| ALAN TOWSEY | 20 October 2006 00:00:00 |
I had the opportunity of taking our football team to Grampound Road tournament on the 20/10/06. The team performed really well putting in a good performance and there behaviour was excellent as usual. The team were placed in a league with Tregony,Grampound, Gorran and Summercourt. Veryan played Summercourt in the 1st match and they drew 0-0, they then played Grampound who they beat 1-0 with Will Dean scoring the winning goal. They then faced Gorran who they also managed to defeat 1-0 and Oliver Vincent scored the goal. In their last match of the league they played Tregony with who they drew 0-0. This placed them 2nd in the league tying with Summercourt, who they had to play in a extra match to decide who would go through to the semi-finals. Alas Veryan made an excellent effort but unfortunately loss the match 2-0 so knocking them out of the competition. In all Veryan played 5 matches and they were only defeated in one of there games. Tregony won the competition with Grampound Road finishing runners up. There were 20 matches and i had the pleasure to referee 15 of these (phew). I would like to thank the players Nat Warren,Michael Vokes,Benjamin Towsey,Isaac Spear,Nicholas & Jade Treneary.Oliver Vincent,Callum Innes and William Dean for the way in which they behaved during the matches, after all being substituted quite a few times(not a grumble or a moan in sight). well done. Thankyou to all the parents who helped with getting there children to the tournament and supporting them, and help during the matches and after with the players. THANKYOU ALL VERY MUCH.

Hello Joshua (White), | |
| Reg Willing | 19 July 2006 00:00:00 |
Exellent website. I was a pupil at Veryan between 1959-1965 and saw a few changes in that time. When I started, we had four classes ranging in age from 5 to 15. Then they built the 'big school' in Tregony and we were reduced to just two classes, one at either end of the school, the infants being taught by Miss Unsworth and the junior class by the then headmaster, Mr Gotch.
| Julie Johns | 19 July 2006 00:00:00 |
Hope you all enjoy your last few days before the summer holidays, and good luck with the play and leaver's service. I'm sure your play will be great like the others. and that the tissues will be required for Monday's leavers service.

Hi everyone | |
| Lydall Family | 03 October 2004 00:00:00 |
Well its been 3 months since we arrived and time is flying by. The sun is starting to shine most days and Jack & Beth have started using the pool. We have been out walking in the bush, Jack has been camping with the scouts, Beth has joined the cubs and is having a fantastic time. We will be in New Zealand for Christmas and the New Year. Christmas day we will be on the beach in the sun near the city that sees the sun first in the world each day. The web site really looks great and informative. Being so far from home its great to be able to see and read what is happening at Veryan. Hopefully Beths school will start e-mailing you when they return from their half term. Best wishes to everyone. Nicky Ian Jack & Beth

I have just been browsing the internet, as I came across a company, relating to my work, in Hinton Blewitt, Somerset, whose head office is in Veryan House. I looked to find out more about it, as by another coincidence, I have a cousin living in Hinton Blewitt, which is a very small village ~ it is remarkable that there are two connections in one little village. Anyway ... I bwent on to look on your village website and found it to be very good, especially your school website. I work in education and have yet to see such a welcoming and informative site. As a result, I had to say 'hello' from Veryan ( female, by the way). I have visited your village when I was younger and also when I was a very young girl. I still have two plates bearing the name 'Veryan', which must be nearly antique by now!!! All the best to you all, especially the children, who must always be nurtured and valued. It is lovely to have a picture of your community through the website, as I have always felt close to you all, because of my name. By the way, I have no idea why my parents chose it ~ I grew up in Weymouth, though am now living in South Wales. My name does cause confusion, conversation, and some amusement, though very ocasionally, someone says 'that's a village in Cornwall, isn't it?'. Love to you all, Veryan
| Simon Welch | 24 September 2004 00:00:00 |
Welcome back to the new school year. The school looks like a new pin with redecoration, repairs and windows cleaned.
| Bron Roberts | 20 September 2004 00:00:00 |
Having read the great news below about our past pupils we were wondering if anyone knows what has happened to other pupils. I am starting a new page for this specific reason. Doesn't matter what your age - if you are doing a course or a job that you would like to tell us about then write to the above e-mail address and we'll put it on the website. If you like we can post your email address too so people can contact you. If you want to send a current photo that would be great but keep it small - no bigger than 100kb max please.
| Georgina White | 19 September 2004 00:00:00 |
What a lovely site!! Well done everyone! Veryan School is very much in my thoughts at the moment as I've just started my teacher training and out of my year of 28 students there are three ex-Veryan pupils! I'm training alongside Kristina Waitz & Clair Symons, it's lovely having familiar faces around and we must have enjoyed our time at Veryan as we will soon be primary teachers ourselves!!
| Bron Roberts | 08 September 2004 00:00:00 |
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to write in this guest book it is very much appreciated by me, the website manager. Please be aware that if you write your e-mail address it then becomes accessible to anyone who visits the website. You should also know that any comments are first read by me before they go on the website so it may take a few days before your comment appears. Thanks again Bron
| Terry Johnson | 31 August 2004 00:00:00 |
I like your site. I am an Old Boy - - in fact, an evacuee aged 8 in 1940, along with about 45 others (our London headmistress was Miss Colbourn). I don't know when we arrived and I don't remember when I left. I believe you have a "Register" that might enlighten me. Can I view it when visiting late next month?
| Nicky Lydall | 01 August 2004 00:00:00 |
Good Day Bruce. Your web site looks great from here in Australia. We have arrived safe, missing Veryan. Visiting loads of different places, wild life sanctuary, rain forest, mountains in the snow !!!!!!. Today we stopped at the side of the road to see 20+ Kangaroos at a billabong. Its a little different to Veryan. Will send you some pictures next time. Bron pls can you forward your e-mail address. Thanks Nicky Ian Jack & Beth ............

My son discovered your site at school yesterday while researching his name. He was named Veryan so that he would always be aware of his Cornish heritage on his mother's side of the family. Veryan has visited his namesake town each time he has travelled to Cornwall from Canada and we have noticed the school in passing. Congratulations on a lively website ...I love the cottage themethrougout the site.

You certainly deserve your Golden Owl award. It will give me great delight, when I am asked at the next Diocesan Board of Education meeting if I would like to comment on my denominational inspection report, to be able to tell them all - go and see for yourselves!! Which reminds me, I really need to complete the report rather than enjoy this site ... God bless, and love, Penny

Wow lots of nice comments about the website - thankyou very much it's a real incentive for me to keep the pages fresh. Sorry that I have been a bit slow putting these latest comments in but I have to moderate the guest book.

It is lovely to visit a school web site where the school has obviously gone to a great deal of trouble to create a comprehensive, informative and attractive site. The school looks to be a very happy community, it must be a pleasure to be a part of it.

Hello to Veryan School | |
| Gillian Crawford | 16 June 2003 00:00:00 |
I'm just visiting. What a lovely website! It's so vibrant, with lots of excellent work, some very interesting information and good photographs. I particularly liked the photo of the finished Sukkah. You must have had great fun building and using that. The guestbook is a great idea, too. Thank you!
| Sandy Easterbrook | 14 June 2003 00:00:00 |
What a fantastic web site Bron. I have just enjoyed finding out so much about everyone at Veryan School. Thank you to Faith for letting me visit at such short notice yesterday. It was very impressive looking around such a lovely School where everyone made me feel welcome.
| Amanda | 19 May 2003 00:00:00 |

| Bron | 17 April 2003 00:00:00 |
Thanks for your comment Penny the dances were very impressive. Sorry if your comment took a while to appear but I have been on holiday. Before any messages go onto the website I have to check them. If I check every night there's nothing in the guestbook but if I miss a few nights then there's always one there.
| Penny Mergler | 11 April 2003 00:00:00 |
Just a note to say how much I enjoyed the concert last night. It was wonderful to see so many children taking part and really enjoying themselves. It was especially good to see the class dances, which I thought were brilliant.
| Bron Roberts | 09 March 2003 00:00:00 |
Just a reminder that the comments that go in the guest book are first sent to me as a security measure so don't be disappointed if your comment does not appear immediately. You can be sure if I check the website everynight nothing will appear for ages and if I leave it for a night two people will write. Typical! Thanks for writing and please keep doing so. B.E.R.

We havejust found this fantastic web site and wanted to say how informative it is. Both of the children have settled in very well and are enjoying school life in Veryan. We just wanted to say what a pleasure it is to be connected with a village school in which both children and parents our made to feel so welcome. The pictures of the activites really look great. Keep up this high standard of work.
| Rachel, Ellie & Sam | 28 February 2003 00:00:00 |
We are moving to your area and have been looking through the school web sites. The web site has been really inspiring- your school looks like a very exciting place to learn. Our current school is really great and we are sad to be leaving (Herefordshire). Keep having fun - we love the activities on your web-site!
| James Thomas | 26 February 2003 00:00:00 |
To Veryan school, | |
| Bron Roberts | 04 February 2003 00:00:00 |
I have just put a new site on the links page where children and adults can find out scientific information with interactive animations. There is some interesting information on how the space shuttle works there. Other information can be found on topics such as Earth Science - Life Science - Physical Science - Engineering and Space. I have not had a chance to really look at everything there so I would be pleased if people searched the site and gave me some feedback on it.
| Helen (Chair of Govs) | 28 January 2003 00:00:00 |
Well Done to our Football Team on Monday Night. I understand both teams won, which was a brilliant result but even better I heard that you all played really well and you played as a team.
| Faith | 09 January 2003 00:00:00 |
Well despite the snow we made it back to school yesterday--so here's wishing you all a really good 2003 and welcome to Jonathan, Jenna, Beth and Jack who've joined us this term--I hope you all will have a great time at Veryan.

| Penny Mergler | 24 November 2002 00:00:00 |
This is the 1st time we have been able to find the site. It's really good. Lots of information and photos.Who would have thought that so much went on at school!
| lally(freyas sister) | 24 November 2002 00:00:00 |
Since I left so much has happened to the school. In year 6 I remember making a page for the website, but this site is much better than the old one. Iwould like to say well done to everyone who ran in the cross-country and well done to Mr Gould for getting a team together. I think that if there was a contest for who had the loudest supporters, Veryan would win!
| Kester | 24 November 2002 00:00:00 |
I think the website is brilliant.

Hiya! Thought I'd take a bit of time to reminisce! Looks great - certainly moved on a lot since I left in 98! Keep up the good work (maybe some more flattering photos of the teachers or you'll scare every1 away!) lol! xxx

Great news!! --Bron has won for school a Golden Owl site of distinction award from the company who backs our website ik.com. Among the prizes are a DVD player and a digital camera. I shall be collecting the award in Gloucestershire with her in November. Tell you all about it when we come back.
| Sylvia and Bryan | 12 October 2002 00:00:00 |
As grandparents who are a long way away in Norfolk, it is nice to be able to get an idea of how the children are getting on. Can you please keep the funny painted faces on as they look less scary than when they are washed off.
| Ross Symons | 10 October 2002 00:00:00 |
Heard about the award. Nicely

I like the web site. Have a good Summer holiday everyone.
| Bron Roberts | 20 July 2002 00:00:00 |
Thankyou everyone for your nice comments about the web site. I thought you should know that when you put your e-mail address in the box, when writing a comment in the guest book, that it becomes available to anyone who wishes to write back to you. I have taken them out so far because I was not sure whether people were aware of this but from now on I will presume that if you put your e-mail address in that box then you don't mind other readers writing back to you. It is a nice way of getting to know more people on the net who are connected with the school. If you see a name underlined and click on that name you can write directly to them as I have demonstrated with my name.
| Laura Benbow (Pupil) | 20 July 2002 00:00:00 |
A great way to keep in touch as I will be joining the Roseland community School in september. Good luck and keep up the great work!
| Julie Johns | 20 July 2002 00:00:00 |

Congratulations to everyone who took part, really enjoyable, and the singing, as always super - makes your skin tingle!!!
| Andrew Marshall | 19 July 2002 00:00:00 |
I think the site is great everyone connected with it's production should be very proud. On the subject of showing childrens photographs i feel the children would be thrilled for friends and family to be able to see them on the web and i think it would be wonderful too.
